The greatest American wrestler of all time. The certified GOAT. For a decade I’ve made it my professional goal to catch the man in the second photo — John Smith. The most average name in America was given to its greatest wrestler ever. And yet there was a time when I didn’t even recognize it. My very first pair of signature wrestling shoes were actually his. A pair of Mat Wizards adorned with an embroidered John Smith signature, and at 12 years old the only John Smith I’d ever heard of was married to Pocahontas. But over the years I heard the stories and learned of his legacy. He was the Cowboy who never missed. He was slick, smooth, and way ahead of his time.
