On November 28, 1964, the New York Giants selected Tucker Frederickson as the first overall pick. The fullback and safety out of Auburn became the first Tiger to be selected #1.⁣ ⁣ Frederickson finished the 1964 sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting, was voted as the Most Valuable Player in the SEC, and was a consensus All-American. He won the Jacobs Award, the SEC's best blocker, for two consecutive seasons.⁣ ⁣ He played six years professionally and was voted to the Pro Bowl in his rookie season. The stud running back's career was cut short by a knee injury.
