I don’t have an “excuse” to be muscular anymore. It was one thing when people saw my arms, shoulders, and quads, and I was able to say, “But I’m a college athlete!! So I train all the time and that’s why I look like this!!” Now that I’m not a college athlete anymore, what’s my “excuse” for having calves that don’t zip into the cute boots at the mall?? Or shoulders that feel tight in every blazer?? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🚨 PSA: I DON’T NEED AN EXCUSE. 🚨 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I don’t need to explain why my body looks a certain way! I don’t need to prove to anyone why a muscular body is beautiful! And I don’t need to be ashamed about the muscle I’ve built just because it’s not longer being used to compete!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Since volleyball ended, I’ve had so many conversations with myself about my body, my muscles, and trying to understand what my appearance means now that my playing days are over. What I’ve learned is that my body deserves to be loved because of EVERYTHING it’s done for...
