Jay’Aine’s father Antoine Patton, went to prison for 8 years and whereas most kids suffer from shame, hurt, loneliness and guilt, Jay Jay was wise beyond her years and knew she had to be the strength and motivation for her father. The communication she shared with her father made them want to provide the same, and even more for kids who are dealing with parental incarceration. Together they’ve developed a “Photo Patch” website and app to help keep families connected. Jay’aine built the mobile app when she was just 12 years old. It lets kids write letters and upload photos to their parents for free, cutting out costly prison phone and mail fees. With prison restrictions in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the app has proven even more useful, with 75-100 messages being sent daily. The app is run from donation funds received through Patton and her father’s foundation. To learn more about their efforts, how you can support, or to download the app visit photopatch.org #BLACK...
