My formative years as a graphic designer were largely spent creating location-based Snapchat Geofilter designs. I started out using Google Drawings for these before my senior year of high school, and Geofilters became an excellent way to learn how to use Adobe Illustrator. Many of my Geofilters fulfilled requests from college friends that wanted something cool for their hometown, and others were motivated by personal trips through these places. A huge chunk of my Geofilters are found throughout California, but I also have some well beyond the state borders! Before starting each of my Geofilter designs, I extensively researched a particular location so that each design is customized for it, often including references to its attractions and history.
