I don't actually watch soccer, but I've always loved how soccer design is a blank slate to create anything you want. I love being able to show off everything unique about a team and its location with a design that be as outlandish or as traditional as you want. Back in February, I decided to continue my fictional California Soccer League (CSL) series by creating an even larger, 70-team CSL2 companion league. This allowed me to further explore California through design as I researched even more cities that I couldn't reach with my 49-team CSL! One day, I hope to turn my virtual sports identities into reality on real jerseys for real teams.
