If you’re looking for a new gig as a firefighter, the city of Surprise wants you. The Surprise Fire Department has received approval to add six full-time crew members, including three captains. City officials say the 6 new positions were created in an effort to increase efficiencies and reduce staff overtime within the Surprise Fire-Medical Department. Following 14 weeks at the fire academy, officials estimate staffing levels to be increased before June 30, the end of the fiscal year.
