Since his debut for DC United in the middle of the MLS regular season, @waynerooney managed to score 12 goals in 20 appearances. Rooney also provided 7 assists this season, demonstrating an incredible ability to get his teammates involved in the attack. Rooney's goal contributions, as well as his ability to lift those around him, revitalized a struggling DC United team that sat at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. By the end of the regular season, DC United had clinched a playoff spot and it seemed as if they were poised to make a deep playoff run. Unfortunately for Rooney and company, DC United crashed out of the competition in the first round of the playoffs, losing to Columbus Crew SC in penalties.
