As we get closer to the restart of MLS competition, we thought today we’d take a look back ar D.C. United's home opener against Atlanta United in 2019. MLS Cup champion and reigning MVP @josefmartinez17 came into the match seeking to open his 2019 scoring account after decimating the record for most goals in a season the previous year. For the hosts, @waynerooney looked to carry over his great 2018 form to this brand new season, and he seemed more than ready to lead DCU once again with his undeniable quality and experience. Rooney and DCU would eventually walk away with a 2-0 win on that day. Today, both teams -- and the rest of the league for that matter -- are in vastly different places.
