Meet Shane Maguire from Fort Collins, Colorado! Shane ultimately chose GCU for the vibrant student life that he observed when he visited on a tour in high school. Once he arrived on campus for his freshman year, he was instantly able to make connections with other students. “I love the community on campus. You can go up and talk to anyone and it feels like you’ve known them for the past 10 years.” This love for GCU’s community led him to become a Discover guide. Although he previously worked at GCBC, he found out about Discover through friends, and got the job! “I get to know students and teach them about how GCU is different from other colleges, and I also lead Lopes Life and Student Life panels.” Being a tour guide has helped him improve his public speaking skills and build community, with both prospective students and coworkers.
