For #BlackHistoryMonth, we spent time asking members of the Rutgers community how they plan to make history. Meet Grace Blay, licensed esthetician and marketer. “My love for the beauty industry began when I was in middle school struggling with acne. I would go to dermatologists only to be prescribed products that often burned my face. I would turn to DIYs and old wives’ tales that cause more harm than good and could rarely find information that considered how my skin tone may present skin disorders and diseases or how it may accept certain ingredients. The industry has come a long way but there is still a high demand for women of color to join. When I began at Rutgers, I wanted to be a dermatologist.
