Every year on this day I am reminded of God’s goodness. On Oct 21, 2008 I just recovered from my ACL tear and while I was at practice I suffered a cardiac arrest - went without a heartbeat for several minutes. Many attempts of CPR were performed on me, but all had failed. My teammate @maxthehooper sprinted across the entire campus and caught the school trainer just in time as they were packing their bags to go home. I was revived through the automated external defibrillator (AED). The paramedics came and put a tube down my throat to sustain the breathing. Day after day in the hospital, they performed many tests but could not find the cause. So we elected to place an internal defibrillator in my chest, which looks very similar to a pacemaker. I wore the defibrillator for 10 years, and every year on my mom’s birthday (today) we celebrate her’s and my “re-birthday.” God is the God of second chances and in His Mercy granted me a second at life.
