@catalinaexpress started with only one boat and one phone in 1981 when three Catalina Island residents realized the need for fast, reliable transportation to and from the Island. ⛴⚓️ The company now has eight vessels, with their largest able to seat 450 passengers. Doug Bombard, his son Greg Bombard and long-time colleague, Tom Rutter, worked tirelessly to make the vision a reality. Since then, more than 33 million passengers have set sail to Catalina Island with Catalina Express. Each year, more than one million passengers set sail onboard the Catalina Express fleet.
A few interesting facts about Catalina Island:
* Catalina Island is home to 50 species that naturally occur on the Island and nowhere else in the world.
* The official fish of the Island is the Garibaldi (CA state marine fish).
* The Island is rich in quartz.
