Seattle fell behind in the sixth minute to a beautiful team goal capped by Chicharito but drew level just over ten minutes later when Jordan Morris grabbed just enough of a pass in front of LA's goal. In first-half stoppage time, Julian Araujo fouled Fredy Montero in the box, and the Sounders were awarded a penalty kick. Montero took the penalty kick and converted to put his team up 2-1.
