90% of youth football players have no idea how to run a 40 yard dash efficiently. There are 5 phases to a 40 yard dash, 100 meter dash, etc:
1. Start/1st step explosion Phase
2. Acceleration or Drive Phase
3. Transition Phase (out of acceleration and into Max Speed)
4. Top end Phase (speed maintenance)
5. Deceleration - Most athletes will slow down prior to the 40 yard finish.
